About: Scars You Cannot See – Building Bridges
The project “Scars You Cannot See” involves the publication of the book “Blizny, których nie widać” in Polish and Ukrainian
and its international promotion under the English title “Scars You Cannot See”. The book was co-authored by women
residing in a collective accommodation center for refugees operated by the Pastoral Family Care Foundation (PFCF). It gives
voice to people with lived experience of forced displacement and war-related trauma, sharing their personal stories of loss,
resilience, and rebuilding life in Poland. The project aims to raise public awareness of the situation of refugees, challenge
stereotypes, and foster empathy and social understanding. Activities include printing the book, an online and offline
promotional campaign, and a public event promoting the publication. The project contributes to the inclusion of refugees in
public discourse, the development of social dialogue, moral empowerment of the authors, and the institutional development
of PFCF.
